Study Nature, Love Nature, Stay close to Nature... It will never fail you. - Frank Lloyd Wright

Greening Jammal Trust Bank

/>

During my internship at Bernard Khoury Architects, I was involved in a few projects, creating a green exterior for Jammal trust bank in Verdun, as well as conceptual brainstorming for a new Beirut Fitness centre, designed around a circular parking that creates a focal point, tending to the typical Lebanese desire to be seen.

Man Vs. Machine.. The constant struggle.

A theme that I selected for a series of drawings and paintings that represent the battle between Man and machine that has been ongoing since the technological revolution. It is this struggle that pushes man to exceed his expectations, supporting the fact that a man's reach should exceed his grasp. In reality, it is more like a man's desire exceeds all else, leaving him blinded. The fight between good and evil, light and dark, heaven and hell, white and black.. these direct opposites will always exist to maintain the equilibrium that is such a necessity in our simple lives to restore sanity.

From Top to Bottom:

The Spark of Life: Reinterpretation of Michelangelo's 'Creation of Man', in the present day, Mankind's 'Creation of Machine'.

Combined Force: Showing the strength that will come from the positive combination of the two forces.

Giving birth to the Future: A prediction of how the human race will be developed and created to perfection.

Overpowered: The early stages of Man succumbing to the boasting power of technology and machinery. (The matrix)

Quenching thirst: The dependency that currently exists on machines to get things done without the requirement of water.

Dark Rift - Oglo + PPil

There is a constant battle between good and bad, light and dark, the Natural and the Artificial, which is emphasized in the French Architects '2nd Public Prize in the Ponte de Lima International Garden Festival in Portugal.'

"Cyclones, earthquakes, seism, and burn down, break suddenly their work which crushes, collapses, burns off. Linear, homogenous and fruitless chaos both tears apart and moves closer nature and craft.

Chaos’ constant, inexorable and infinite strength appears through the horizontality of the dark fault, it represents the zero point, which is the reference level. Our garden aims to show the superiority of the chaos in front of natural and artificial."

Using arranged Perennial herbs, and randomly spread chaos, using curved forms, vs sharp edgy corners, this 'spit' of land perfectly emphasizes man's constant struggle against chaos, as we try and use the natural form to distract us.

Shanghai Houtan Park - Tuurenscape

"Built on a brownfield of a former industrial site, Houtan Park is a regenerative living landscape on Shanghai’s Huangpu riverfront. The park’s constructed wetland, ecological flood control, reclaimed industrial structures and materials, and urban agriculture are integral components of an overall restorative design strategy to treat polluted river water and recover the degraded waterfront in an aesthetically pleasing way."
