Camley Street Nature Reserve

Some of the work I have been doing for our Camley Street project. A nature reserve hidden between Kings Cross and the Eurostar, not necessarily the ideal location for nature and wildlife preservation. It is voluntary, which means if my proposal is to be at all considered, there must be structure, over time development plan, and ever so slight changes to keep the progression. The concept that I have been working with is Light and Shadows, how and where the light hits the site in the morning, and afternoon, the patterns and shadows that are created from the trees, and the visual/sound impact on the site. To blend all of these together, and create a proposed solution that has a positive impact on all of these problems, I have decided to work with what is already there, rather than recreate. I am trying to create a green wall that follows the canal side of the site, that interact with the light, and at the same time acts as a walkway that filters out the sounds (soundproofing) as well as keeping a connection with the canal (peak points). Real light during the morning and day will create light and shade patterns, and at night artificial light will do the same, but in a different 'artificial' way. I am also working with shelter designs to create different ways of receiving and playing with light.
